Settling Into Life in Ljubljana: Mar 9-15

This week felt more settled and a lot more personal. I spent time walking through the city and kept noticing how often learning happens outside of a classroom. Groups of kids were everywhere, moving through the city with their teachers, writing things down and learning as they went. It made me think differently about what school can look like.
Work is starting to feel more real. I am more involved with patients and supervisees now, which has been both challenging and rewarding. The language barrier is still there with the kids, but I am figuring out how to work through it by leaning on the supervisees and adjusting how I communicate. Teaching continues to be a highlight. The students are engaged and open, and I feel genuinely welcomed at the Faculty.
Some of the best parts of the week came from being part of local traditions. The Gregorčki celebration stood out. Watching kids release their handmade boats into the water to mark the start of spring was simple and meaningful. Later in the week, I got to experience a more social version of the same tradition with friends, which made it feel even more connected.
Outside of work, life felt comfortable and familiar in a new way. I am finding my places, running small routines, and meeting people along the way. There was time to relax, get ready for visitors, and enjoy the everyday parts of being here.
By the end of the week, it felt like I was not just visiting anymore. I am starting to understand how things work, building relationships, and settling into both the work and the life around it.
